Measurement of beauty and charm production in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}=5.02$ TeV via non-prompt and prompt D mesons

no code implementations26 Feb 2021 ALICE Collaboration

Compared to previous measurements in the same rapidity region, the cross sections of prompt $\mathrm{D^+}$ and $\mathrm{D_s^+}$ mesons have an extended $p_\mathrm{T}$ coverage and total uncertainties reduced by a factor ranging from 1. 05 to 1. 6, depending on $p_\mathrm{T}$, allowing for a more precise determination of their $p_\mathrm{T}$-integrated cross sections.

Measurements of mixed harmonic cumulants in Pb-Pb collisions at $\mathbf{\sqrt{{\textit s}_{\rm NN}}}=5.02$ TeV

no code implementations24 Feb 2021 ALICE Collaboration

These new studies on correlations between three flow coefficients as well as correlations between higher moments of two different flow coefficients will pave the way to tighten constraints on initial-state models and help to extract precise information on the dynamic evolution of the hot and dense matter created in heavy-ion collisions at the LHC.

Coherent $\rm{J/ψ}$ and $\rm{ψ'}$ photoproduction at midrapidity in ultra-peripheral Pb-Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\mathrm{NN}}}~=~5.02$ TeV

no code implementations12 Jan 2021 ALICE Collaboration

The ratio of $\rm{\psi'}$ to $\rm{J/\psi}$ coherent photoproduction cross sections was also measured and found to be consistent with the one for photoproduction off protons.

no code implementations12 Jan 2021 ALICE Collaboration

The first measurement of the cross section for coherent J/$\psi$ photoproduction as a function of $|t|$, the square of the momentum transferred between the incoming and outgoing target nucleus, is presented.

First measurement of coherent $ρ^{0}$ photoproduction in ultra-peripheral Xe-Xe collisions at $\mathbf{\sqrt{s_{\rm {\scriptscriptstyle \mathbf{NN}}}} = 5.44}$ TeV

no code implementations7 Jan 2021 ALICE Collaboration

This result, together with previous HERA $\gamma$p data and $\gamma$-Pb measurements from ALICE, describes the atomic number ($A$) dependence of this process, which is particularly sensitive to nuclear shadowing effects and to the approach to the black-disc limit of QCD at a semi-hard scale.

Multi-harmonic correlations of different flow amplitudes in Pb-Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{\rm NN}}}=2.76$ TeV

no code implementations7 Jan 2021 ALICE Collaboration

Transverse momentum spectra and nuclear modification factors of charged particles in Xe-Xe collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}$ = 5.44 TeV

1 code implementation11 May 2018 ALICE Collaboration

The nuclear modification factors in central Xe-Xe collisions and Pb-Pb collisions at a similar center-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}$ = 5. 02 TeV, and in addition at 2. 76 TeV, at analogous ranges of charged particle multiplicity density $\left\langle\rm{d}N_{\rm ch}/\rm{d}\eta\right\rangle$ show a remarkable similarity at $p_{\rm T}> 10$ GeV/$c$.

Suppression of $Λ(1520)$ resonance production in central Pb-Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}$ = 2.76 TeV

1 code implementation11 May 2018 ALICE Collaboration

This is the first observation of the suppression of a baryonic resonance at LHC and the first evidence of $\Lambda(1520)$ suppression in heavy-ion collisions.

Centrality determination of Pb-Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}$ = 2.76 TeV with ALICE

1 code implementation18 Jan 2013 ALICE Collaboration

The centrality is a key parameter in the study of the properties of QCD matter at extreme temperature and energy density, because it is directly related to the initial overlap region of the colliding nuclei.
