Highly oriented polymer films can show considerable anisotropy in the thermoelectric properties leading to power factors beyond those predicted by the widely obeyed power law linking the thermopower $S$ and the electrical conductivity $\sigma$ as $S\propto\sigma^{-1/4}$.
