Purpose: The direct decay of the Hoyle state into three $\alpha$-particles, rather than through the $^{8}\mathrm{Be}$ ground state, can be identified by studying the energy partition of the 3 $\alpha$-particles arising from the decay.

Evidence against the Efimov effect in $^{12}\mathrm{C}$ from spectroscopy and astrophysics

no code implementations15 Dec 2020 J. Bishop, G. V. Rogachev, S. Ahn, E. Aboud, M. Barbui, A. Bosh, C. Hunt, J. Hooker, H. Jayatissa, E. Koshchiy, R. Malecek, S. T. Marley, M. Munch, E. C. Pollaco, C. D. Pruitt, B. T. Roeder, A. Saastamoinen, L. G. Sobotka, S. Upadhyayula

A hypothetical state in $^{12}\mathrm{C}$ at 7. 458 MeV excitation energy, comprising of a loose structure of three $\alpha$-particles in mutual two-body resonance, has been suggested in the literature to correspond to an Efimov state in nuclear physics.
