Super-sample covariance of the thermal Sunyaev-Zel'dovich effect

no code implementations8 Oct 2020 Ken Osato, Masahiro Takada

First, we study the impact of super sample covariance (SSC) on the tSZ power spectrum measurements, and find that the sample variance is dominated by the connected non-Gaussian (cNG) covariance arising mainly from Poisson number fluctuations of massive clusters in the survey volume.

Testing Stochastic Gravitational Wave Signals from Primordial Black Holes with Optical Telescopes

no code implementations5 Oct 2020 Sunao Sugiyama, Volodymyr Takhistov, Edoardo Vitagliano, Alexander Kusenko, Misao Sasaki, Masahiro Takada

Primordial black holes (PBHs) can constitute the predominant fraction of dark matter (DM) if PBHs reside in the currently unconstrained "sublunar" mass range.

Power Spectrum of Intrinsic Alignments of Galaxies in IllustrisTNG

no code implementations1 Sep 2020 Jingjing Shi, Toshiki Kurita, Masahiro Takada, Ken Osato, Yosuke Kobayashi, Takahiro Nishimichi

The shape of massive disk- and spheroid-galaxies tend to align with the tidal field.

Impacts of pre-initial conditions on anisotropic separate universe simulations: a boosted tidal response in the epoch of reionization

no code implementations17 Jul 2020 Shogo Masaki, Takahiro Nishimichi, Masahiro Takada

To generate initial conditions for cosmological $N$-body simulations, one needs to prepare a uniform distribution of simulation particles, so-called the pre-initial condition (pre-IC).

Blinded challenge for precision cosmology with large-scale structure: results from effective field theory for the redshift-space galaxy power spectrum

1 code implementation18 Mar 2020 Takahiro Nishimichi, Guido D'Amico, Mikhail M. Ivanov, Leonardo Senatore, Marko Simonović, Masahiro Takada, Matias Zaldarriaga, Pierre Zhang

An accurate theoretical template for the galaxy power spectrum is a key for the success of ongoing and future spectroscopic surveys.

Joint likelihood function of cluster counts and $n$-point correlation functions: Improving their power through including halo sample variance

2 code implementations12 Jun 2014 Emmanuel Schaan, Masahiro Takada, David N. Spergel

This approach enables an approximate derivation of a joint likelihood for the cluster number counts, the weak lensing power spectrum and the bispectrum.

Calibrating the Nonlinear Matter Power Spectrum: Requirements for Future Weak Lensing Surveys

no code implementations6 Dec 2004 Dragan Huterer, Masahiro Takada

We estimate the accuracy with which the matter power spectrum will need to be calibrated in order not to contribute appreciably to the error budget for future weak lensing surveys.
