Evolution of subhalo orbits in a smoothly-growing host halo potential

no code implementations4 Feb 2021 Go Ogiya, James E. Taylor, Michael J. Hudson

We find that the radial action of the subhalo orbit decreases over the first few orbits, indicating that the response to the growth of the host halo is not adiabatic during this phase.

Neural physical engines for inferring the halo mass distribution function

1 code implementation13 Sep 2019 Tom Charnock, Guilhem Lavaux, Benjamin D. Wandelt, Supranta Sarma Boruah, Jens Jasche, Michael J. Hudson

Here we demonstrate a method for determining the halo mass distribution function by learning the tracer bias between density fields and halo catalogues using a neural bias model.

CFHTLenS: A Weak Lensing Shear Analysis of the 3D-Matched-Filter Galaxy Clusters

1 code implementation11 Sep 2014 Jes Ford, Ludovic van Waerbeke, Martha Milkeraitis, Clotilde Laigle, Hendrik Hildebrandt, Thomas Erben, Catherine Heymans, Henk Hoekstra, Thomas Kitching, Yannick Mellier, Lance Miller, Ami Choi, Jean Coupon, Liping Fu, Michael J. Hudson, Konrad Kuijken, Naomi Robertson, Barnaby Rowe, Tim Schrabback, Malin Velander

We present the cluster mass-richness scaling relation calibrated by a weak lensing analysis of >18000 galaxy cluster candidates in the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope Lensing Survey (CFHTLenS).

Disentangling satellite galaxy populations using orbit tracking in simulations

1 code implementation28 Jan 2013 Kyle A. Oman, Michael J. Hudson, Peter S. Behroozi

We parameterize the orbital history by the time since crossing within 2. 5 rvir of the cluster centre and use our catalog to estimate the probability density over a range of this parameter given a set of present-day projected (i. e. observable) phase space coordinates.
