Infrared spectra obtained from cell or tissue specimen have commonly been observed to involve a significant degree of (resonant) Mie scattering, which often overshadows biochemically relevant spectral information by a non-linear, non-additive spectral component in Fourier transformed infrared (FTIR) spectroscopic measurements.
