A deep radio view of the evolution of the cosmic star-formation rate density from a stellar-mass selected sample in VLA-COSMOS

no code implementations17 Dec 2020 Eliab D. Malefahlo, Matt J. Jarvis, Mario G. Santos, Sarah V. White, Nathan J. Adams, Rebecca A. A. Bowler

Beyond $z\sim 2$, we find that the SFG RLF exhibits a negative evolution ($L^*$ moves to lower luminosities) due to the decrease in low stellar-mass sources in our stellar mass-limited sample at high redshifts.

Blind foreground subtraction for intensity mapping experiments

1 code implementation30 Sep 2014 David Alonso, Philip Bull, Pedro G. Ferreira, Mario G. Santos

For well-behaved foregrounds and instrumental effects we find that foreground subtraction can be successful to a reasonable level on most scales of interest.

Cosmic Reionization and the 21-cm signal: Comparison between an analytical model and a simulation

1 code implementation20 Aug 2007 Mario G. Santos, Alexandre Amblard, Jonathan Pritchard, Hy Trac, Renyue Cen, Asantha Cooray

Unlike the well-studied case where spin temperature is assumed to be significantly greater than the temperature of the cosmic microwave background due to uniform heating of the gas by X-rays, spatial fluctuations in both the Lya radiation field and X-ray intensity impact predictions related to the brightness temperature at z > 10, during the early stages of reionization and gas heating.
