Structure-based approach can identify driver nodes in ensembles of biologically-inspired Boolean networks

no code implementations8 Mar 2023 Eli Newby, Jorge Gómez Tejeda Zañudo, Réka Albert

Driving a network's feedback vertex set (FVS) by node-state override into a state consistent with a target attractor is proven to force every system trajectory to the target attractor, but in biological networks, the FVS is typically larger than can be realistically manipulated.

Network medicine framework reveals generic herb-symptom effectiveness of Traditional Chinese Medicine

no code implementations18 Jul 2022 Xiao Gan, Zixin Shu, Xinyan Wang, Dengying Yan, Jun Li, Shany ofaim, Réka Albert, XiaoDong Li, Baoyan Liu, Xuezhong Zhou, Albert-László Barabási

We validate our framework with real-world hospital patient data by showing that (1) shorter network distance between symptoms of inpatients correlates with higher relative risk (co-occurrence), and (2) herb-symptom network proximity is indicative of patients' symptom recovery rate after herbal treatment.

Structure-based approach to identifying small sets of driver nodes in biological networks

1 code implementation22 Nov 2021 Eli Newby, Jorge Gómez Tejda Zañudo, Réka Albert

Thus, we developed an approach to rank subsets of the FVS on Boolean models of intracellular networks using topological, dynamics-independent measures.

Network model and analysis of the spread of Covid-19 with social distancing

2 code implementations16 Jun 2020 Parul Maheshwari, Réka Albert

Here, we present a network model of human-human interactions that could be mediators of disease spread.
