Sum-of-Parts Models: Faithful Attributions for Groups of Features

1 code implementation25 Oct 2023 Weiqiu You, Helen Qu, Marco Gatti, Bhuvnesh Jain, Eric Wong

An explanation of a machine learning model is considered "faithful" if it accurately reflects the model's decision-making process.

In particular, we measure the mixing length parameter to be $\alpha=0. 90^{+0. 36}_{-0. 26}$ (when assumed to be constant across our sample), and obtain constraints on the parameters describing turbulent dissipation and convective flux.

With up to an order of magnitude lower polarization noise than maps from the Planck satellite, the high-resolution sky maps will constrain cosmological parameters derived from the damping tail, gravitational lensing of the microwave background, the primordial bispectrum, and the thermal and kinematic Sunyaev-Zel'dovich effects, and will aid in delensing the large-angle polarization signal to measure the tensor-to-scalar ratio.

About 90\% of the observing time will be devoted to a deep-wide-fast survey mode which will uniformly observe a 18, 000 deg$^2$ region about 800 times (summed over all six bands) during the anticipated 10 years of operations, and yield a coadded map to $r\sim27. 5$.
