Feedback Factory: Multiple faint radio-jets detected in a cluster at z=2

no code implementations23 Feb 2021 Boris S. Kalita, Emanuele Daddi, Rosemary T. Coogan, Ivan Delvecchio, Raphael Gobat, Francesco Valentino, Veronica Strazzullo, Evangelia Tremou, David Elbaz, Carlos Gómez-Guijarro, Alexis Finoguenov

This is a factor $\sim 0. 25 - 1. 0$ of the previously estimated instantaneous energy injection into the ICM of CLJ1449+0856 from AGN outflows and star formation, that have already been found to be sufficient in globally offsetting the cooling flows in the cluster core.

Hierarchical fragmentation in high redshift galaxies revealed by hydrodynamical simulations

no code implementations26 Jan 2021 Baptiste Faure, Frédéric Bournaud, Jérémy Fensch, Emanuele Daddi, Manuel Behrendt, Andreas Burkert, Johan Richard

We show that in very gas-rich galaxies star formation occurs in small gas clusters with masses below $10^{7-8}$ $\mathrm{M}_\odot$ that are themselves located inside giant complexes with masses up to $10^8$ and sometimes $10^9$ $\mathrm{M}_\odot$.

A titanic interstellar medium ejection from a massive starburst galaxy at redshift 1.4

no code implementations11 Jan 2021 Annagrazia Puglisi, Emanuele Daddi, Marcella Brusa, Frederic Bournaud, Jeremy Fensch, Daizhong Liu, Ivan Delvecchio, Antonello Calabrò, Chiara Circosta, Francesco Valentino, Michele Perna, Shuowen Jin, Andrea Enia, Chiara Mancini, Giulia Rodighiero

A broad component that is red-shifted from the galaxy emission is detected in four (low- and high-J) CO and [CI] transitions and in the ionized phase, which ensures a robust estimate of the expelled gas mass.

Dust, gas, and metal content in star-forming galaxies at $z\sim3.3$ revealed with ALMA and Near-IR spectroscopy

no code implementations17 Dec 2020 Tomoko L. Suzuki, Masato Onodera, Tadayuki Kodama, Emanuele Daddi, Masao Hayashi, Yusei Koyama, Rhythm Shimakawa, Ian Smail, David Sobral, Sandro Tacchella, Ichi Tanaka

We conducted sub-millimeter observations with the Atacama Large Millimeter/sub-millimeter Array (ALMA) of star-forming galaxies at $z\sim3. 3$, whose gas-phase metallicities have been previously measured.

Compact, bulge dominated structures of spectroscopically confirmed quiescent galaxies at z~3

no code implementations4 Dec 2020 Peter Lustig, Veronica Strazzullo, Chiara D'Eugenio, Emanuele Daddi, Maurilio Pannella, Alvio Renzini, Andrea Cimatti, Raphael Gobat, Shuowen Jin, Joseph J. Mohr, Masato Onodera

We study structural properties of spectroscopically confirmed massive quiescent galaxies at $z\approx 3$ with one of the first sizeable samples of such sources, made of ten $10. 8<\log(M_{\star}/M_{\odot})<11. 3$ galaxies at $2. 4 < z < 3. 2$ in the COSMOS field whose redshifts and quiescence are confirmed by HST grism spectroscopy.

From haloes to galaxies -- II. The fundamental relations in star formation and quenching

no code implementations7 Oct 2020 Jing Dou, Yingjie Peng, Alvio Renzini, Luis C. Ho, Filippo Mannucci, Emanuele Daddi, Yu Gao, Roberto Maiolino, Chengpeng Zhang, Qiusheng Gu, Di Li, Simon J. Lilly, Feng Yuan

We show the integrated $M_{\rm H_2}$-SFR, SFR-$M_*$ and $M_{\rm H_2}$-$M_*$ relation can be simply transformed from the $\mu$-sSFR, SFE-$\mu$ and SFE-sSFR relation, respectively.
